Earlier this year the Communitas choir was given the amazing oppourtunity of being able to perform on a collabortaive recording session at the renowned Abbey Road studios in London.
Performing in Studio Two, the same studio that has hosted artists such as The Beatles, Pink Floyd and Ed Sheeran. The choir recorded a vocal performance to a track composed by YSJ lecturers Rob Wilsmore and Chris Johnson as well as Emerging Voices own songwriting tutor, Esther Clare. The track was specifically written for the Communitas choir to perform and contains lyrics written in collaboration with members of the choir. The project was organised to give choir members the expereince of working collaborativly alongside professional musicans and recording engineers in order to show everyone that community music and mental health is an important component of the music industry within the UK.
We look forward to hearing the finished track later this year, which we are proud to say will be being released under our partnership record label “Converge Records”. The track will also be being released on our the new web store available through the emerging voices website.
Both Emerging Voices and the Communitas Choir would like to say a special thank you to York St John for giving us this incredible oppourtunity as well as Rob Wilsmore and the YSJ Music Production course (lecturers and 3rd year students) for allowing us to take part in their annual abbey road sessions.
